In this role you drive transformation by discovering, prototyping, and maturing ML/AI and edge computing solutions that keep Extreme at the forefront of intelligent networking. You work hands-on with cross-functional teams to turn ideas into production-ready features and validated business cases. Your work spans discovery, prototyping, and co-innovation with customers and partners, aiming to commercialize breakthrough capabilities. You’ll contribute thought leadership and help shape Extreme’s innovation strategy in AI-powered networking.

Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate opportunities in ML/AI, edge computing, and related tech
Prototype and validate solutions, moving ideas from concept to proof of concept
Stay informed on industry trends, standards bodies, and competitive innovation
Build and architect real prototypes, coding and documenting as needed
Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver production-ready features
Contribute to solution delivery through prototyping, testing, and demos
Drive continuous improvement by addressing technical and architectural bottlenecks
Engage customers and partners to co-develop solutions and understand needs
Translate complex ideas into clear narratives for CTOs and executives
Create reference and lighthouse accounts by offering early access to breakthroughs
Support commercialization by ensuring market realization for innovations
Collaborate across product, engineering, marketing, and field teams
Participate in standards bodies and open-source communities to shape industry direction
Influence product roadmaps based on customer insights
Champion critical thinking, experimentation, and calculated risk-taking
Author and present on emerging technologies and innovation frameworks
Evangelize AI-powered networking and edge intelligence to customers and prospects
Build visibility for Extreme's innovation strategy and differentiation

Key requirements

Proven track record from ideation to productization with GenAI and Multi-Agent solutions in a large company or startup
Experience building an engineering team for GenAI and Multi-Agent solutions
Experience with complex AI and data-centric projects outside networking
Fluent in at least one programming language; Python, Java, or Go preferred
Deep knowledge of ML/AI principles, architectures, and enterprise applications
Understanding of edge computing, distributed systems, and cloud networking architectures
Knowledge of data structures, query optimization, and analytics technologies
Ability to evaluate and integrate third-party technologies and frameworks
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse audiences
Proven ability to resolve issues with strong customer satisfaction
Ability to work independently and in high-performing cross-functional teams
Comfort with ambiguity and defining problems before solutions exist
Willingness to travel and engage remotely with customers and partners
