In this role you oversee the industrialization of outerwear from prototyping to bulk production. You’ll provide technical support to Product Development and Product Engineering to ensure feasibility, quality, and compliance. You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive material development, risk mitigation, and production efficiency. The role combines hands‑on technical expertise with leadership in supplier partnerships and regulatory awareness. You will help shape scalable, high‑quality outerwear as part of Burberry’s mission to merge luxury with sustainable innovation.

Responsibilities

Manage raw materials from development to bulk production
Reduce issues at bulk and ensure smooth industrialization
Drive innovation and quality improvements across processes
Support HQ teams with regional actions or fixes
Establish collaborative supplier partnerships to meet material objectives
Engage with industry and academia to stay current on technology and product advances
Maintain knowledge of government regulations and safety standards for materials and finished goods
Provide expert material development direction and value engineering
Advise suppliers on material construction and performance benchmarks
Hold suppliers accountable to material standards and lead onboarding/training of suppliers
Lead special projects and provide guidance to peers and partners

Key requirements

Strong technical knowledge of outerwear construction, materials, seam sealing, insulation, and performance standards
Hands-on sewing and fabric cutting experience
Ability to analyze technical sheets and BOMs
Experience managing supplier relationships and factory partnerships
Operational understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity, and lead times
Cost engineering skills balancing creative direction with commercial targets
Strong critical path management and delivery within time and budget
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
In-depth fashion sensibility for luxury outerwear market and trends
Proficiency with PLM and Excel
