In this role you will lead health practice actuarial work, delivering financial modeling, pricing, and design analysis for health and welfare programs. You will collaborate across the Health Practice and with client staff to translate actuarial insights into actionable solutions. You’ll mentor junior staff and help grow advisory capabilities, contributing to Segal’s trusted, client‑focused benefits consulting. Responsibilities
- Serve as primary/secondary consultant on health practice projects involving financial/actuarial modeling, pricing/rating or underwriting
- Act as a technical resource on health and welfare design, financing, and managed care issues for internal and external colleagues
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across practices and client staff
- Support actuarial projects including data review, model development/review, and training of Health Practice personnel
- Contribute to new business development efforts through client service and advisory activities
- Mentor and train junior staff to develop actuarial modeling skills and techniques
Key requirements
- 6 or more years of health actuarial experience; 7–10 years preferred in health and welfare managed care within a consulting or professional services environment
- ASA or FSA credential preferred; candidates with credit for 5+ SOA courses considered at Associate level
- Prior consulting experience or transferable project management and client service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities; collaborative mindset
