As Head of Data at Philo, you will lead a growing team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to deliver reliable, data-driven insights across the company. You’ll shape data platform architecture, governance, and experiments that influence product decisions, growth, and engagement. You’ll partner with engineering, ML teams, and business stakeholders to scale data capabilities and enable cross-functional analytics. This role offers impact at scale in a fast-growing streaming business, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Own data strategy and ensure timely, accurate data access for stakeholders
- Lead cross-functional data science work including experiments, growth modeling, and product insights
- Own data platform quality, architecture, instrumentation, governance, security, and compliance
- Ensure scalable, modular data collection and reliable data foundation across teams
- Collaborate with engineering and AI/ML teams to deliver content recommendation solutions
- Partner with business and finance data roles to build business understanding and insights
- Manage and mentor the data team, overseeing hiring and career development
Key requirements
- 15+ years in analytics, data science, data engineering, or related roles
- Hands-on data scientist with leadership experience, proficient in Python or R (Python preferred) and SQL
- Experience with A/B/n experimentation and data-driven insights
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex analyses to non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in a fast-paced startup environment or equivalent
- Experience in consumer subscription, streaming, media, or event-rich digital businesses is a plus
- Experience with ML and Deep Learning is a plus
