Experteer Overview

In this role you contribute to underground ground control by inspecting conditions, designing support, and monitoring performance. You will work within the Goldrush Underground Geotechnical Engineering team to apply rock mechanics knowledge and ensure QA/QC of ground support. The position supports geotechnical mapping, data analysis, and safety training, with opportunities to influence mine design and safety culture. You will collaborate across teams to deliver reliable underground ground control solutions in a safety‑first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of underground mining activities to identify ground control hazards and monitor excavation performance
  • Ensure adherence to Ground Control standards and QA/QC for rockbolts, shotcrete, and backfill
  • Apply rock mechanics to design ground support as needed
  • Collect, analyze, and report geotechnical monitoring data; maintain databases
  • Review and advise on mine and stope designs under supervision
  • Assist with ground control safety training programs
  • Support geotechnical projects and, periodically, underground mapping and core logging for drill programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology
  • Geotechnical underground experience (1–3 years)
  • Experience with rock mass classification, geotechnical analysis, ground support design, QA/QC programs preferred
  • Familiarization with geotechnical software packages preferred
  • Strong teamwork, problem solving, and interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility for on-call/on-site hours and ability to work independently or as part of a team
