In this role you lead Carpenter Technology’s global transportation, distribution and logistics strategy, partnering with cross-functional teams to boost service, reliability and cost efficiency. You’ll oversee freight operations domestically and internationally, carrier management, and compliance while mitigating supply chain risks. You will drive network design, inventory flow improvements, and continuous improvements to support growth and customer satisfaction. This is a strategic, impact-driven role with a focus on operational excellence and organizational change.

Responsibilities
- Lead logistics network optimization and transportation strategy to improve service and financial performance
- Direct warehousing, carrier management, and procurement of production supplies across domestic and international operations
- Develop and implement direct-to-customer and DC-to-customer distribution strategies
- Coordinate resources and communication to support delivery goals with internal and third-party providers
- Coach and develop logistics staff, promote safety, accountability and customer service
- Manage daily freight and distribution operations including internal/external communications
- Establish relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics suppliers; support negotiations and supplier evaluations
- Lead continuous improvement projects and enterprise-level logistics transformation initiatives
- Develop budgets, forecasts and cost-reduction initiatives; monitor KPIs and reports to guide decisions
- Ensure regulatory compliance in transportation, customs, export, DOT and documentation
- Represent Logistics in senior-level business reviews and drive cross-functional collaboration
Key requirements
- 7 years of managerial or supervisory experience in logistics or supply chain (Associates degree required)
- Prior work experience in logistics/supply chain management/freight forwarding
- Proficiency in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
- Strong analytical and multitasking abilities; detail-oriented
- Knowledge of customs, export regulations, DOT and Incoterms
- Experience with carrier sourcing, rate negotiations and contract evaluation
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
