In this role you drive private foundation support for Lurie Children’s, managing a portfolio of foundations to meet annual fundraising goals and long‑term campaigns. You cultivate relationships, craft proposals, and coordinate with Medical Center staff to align gifts with hospital needs. You will represent the Foundation to donors and at events, shaping philanthropy in pediatric care. This is a mission‑driven position at a leading children's hospital with broad community impact.

Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of 60-80 foundations and guide the full giving cycle (cultivation, solicitation, stewardship) to secure multi‑figure gifts
- Identify and qualify new foundation prospects in collaboration with the Prospect Development team
- Develop proposals, grant applications, and stewardship reports in partnership with Communications
- Build foundation relationships through site visits and regular communications; represent the hospital to foundation staff at events
- Coordinate as liaison to Medical Center divisions to align foundation activities with hospital needs
- Track portfolio activity with timely documentation and action on interactions with donors, physicians, and leaders
- Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Programs, Finance, or Legal to ensure grant management follows policies and proper stewardship
- Support process improvements within the Foundation Relations team to grow philanthropy
- Engage with donors, administrators, physicians, program directors, and staff to strengthen ongoing support
- Maintain strong organizational and interpersonal skills to manage multiple initiatives under deadlines
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Five to ten years of development experience, preferably in foundation/corporate relations within hospital or higher education
- Proven track record of successful gift solicitation and fundraising impact
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to represent the hospital professionally at site visits and events, including evenings/weekends
- Strong collaboration and donor‑facing skills
- Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines
- Experience with budgeting and expense reporting; word processing and spreadsheets proficiency
- Capacity to work with diverse stakeholders and advocate for donors while aligning with hospital needs
- Knowledge of grant management processes and hospital policies
- Preferred: Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising databases
