In this role you will design high-speed FPGA modules and system architectures to enable advanced SATCOM products for government customers. You will work within the SNS team to develop, simulate, and implement HDL-based designs, collaborating with hardware and software engineers to bring boards from bring-up to production. The position emphasizes ownership of technical issues and strong documentation, with impact across secure, high-performance communications systems. This is an onsite, cross-functional, globally distributed team focused on cutting-edge cryptographic and signaling solutions.

Responsibilities

Design FPGA module and system-level architectures using Verilog and/or VHDL
Develop simulations for modules and systems
Synthesize HDL code to FPGA devices
Create timing constraints, analyze results, and implement fixes to close timing
Produce design documents, requirements, specifications, and verification protocols
Collaborate with hardware engineers during board bring-up and interpretation of datasheets
Participate in code and design reviews and multi-functional reviews
Maintain FPGA code revision history and drive technical issue resolution
Integrate and debug designs in the laboratory

Key requirements

5+ years FPGA design experience
Foundational knowledge of digital logic and timing
Experience with high-speed and parallel design techniques (pipelining, load balancing, look-ahead architectures)
Strong written and verbal communication skills for distributed teams
Attention to detail and adherence to coding guidelines
Experience with programmable logic EDA tools (AMD/Xilinx ISE/Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus, Siemens/Mentor Graphics, Synopsys Synplify, SoftCore Micro embedded in Microchip)
Proven ability to design and implement FPGA modules with Verilog and/or VHDL, including simulations and testbenches
Familiarity with reuse, maintainability, and scalability in designs
Team-oriented, independent, proactive approach
US citizenship and Active United States Secret Clearance
Onsite work in Carlsbad, CA; Linthicum Heights, MD; Tampa, FL; or Marlborough, MA, with up to 10% travel
