As a Fire Investigator you support Jensen Hughes’ forensic investigations across the UK and Ireland, determining origin and cause of fires and other incidents. You will gather evidence, produce robust reports, and may provide expert testimony. You work with multidisciplinary experts to deliver technically sound conclusions in courts and official inquiries. This role combines field work, case management, and ongoing professional development within a globally respected safety and risk firm.

Responsibilities
- Attend incident scenes to document evidence and interview witnesses
- Investigate origin, cause and development of complex cases
- Coordinate with experts representing other parties
- Produce high-quality, detailed technical reports
- Provide expert witness evidence when required
- Utilise the case management system for case-related activity in line with SLAs
- Attend joint examinations and leverage specialists
- Maintain technical knowledge through CPD, training, and review of scientific literature
- Engage in marketing events as needed
- Create and present articles or presentations for training or marketing
- Represent Jensen Hughes at meetings and conferences as an ambassador
Key requirements
- Relevant experience and/or qualifications in fire investigation, fire engineering, forensic science or related field
- Membership of a professional body advantageous but not essential
- Practical experience is essential
- Strong analytical skills with a scientific, systematic approach to forensic examination
- Strong communication skills, clear written and spoken presentation
- Attention to detail, flexible approach, ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients
- Ability to work independently with a support network
- Frequent travel within Ireland and the UK; potential overseas travel
- Current driving licence; car ownership ideally
