Experteer Overview
In this tenured role, you will lead an interdisciplinary accelerator-science program that leverages AI/ML, engineering, and physics to advance accelerator design, optimization, and large-scale simulations. You will collaborate across Physics, Engineering, and Data Science with Jefferson Lab, shaping next-gen accelerator technology and training the workforce. You will teach undergrad and grad courses, mentor students, and contribute to department and university service. This is a mission-driven opportunity to drive impactful research at a national lab-linked center.
Responsibilities
- Build and sustain an externally funded, interdisciplinary research program in accelerator science using AI/ML and related methods
- Collaborate with Physics, Engineering, Data Science, and Jefferson Lab accelerator scientists
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including VITA and USPAS programs
- Advise graduate students and contribute to department and university service
Key requirements
- Expertise in accelerator science with demonstrated potential for tenure
- Strong research record with externally funded grants
- Ability to teach and mentor at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Academic record supporting tenured appointment at ODU
- Clear communication with internal and external stakeholders
