In this role you maintain and repair the hospital’s physical plant, supporting mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC systems. You operate boilers and auxiliaries to provide hot water and steam for power needs, working within a mission-driven healthcare environment. You collaborate with the engineering team to uphold the environment of care and patient safety, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. This is a hands-on, multi-trade role that combines skilled trades with strong teamwork and service orientation.

Responsibilities

Perform complex maintenance and repair across the hospital’s physical plant and trade areas
Operate and maintain boilers and auxiliaries to supply hot water and steam for power generation
Support adherence to AHMC-ARMC mission, core values, and performance improvement plans
Uphold customer service, patient rights, confidentiality, and environment of care standards
Coordinate with co-workers and patients in a tactful, diplomatic manner
Prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
Utilize various hand tools, power equipment, and trade-specific systems
Maintain familiarity with pumps, pumping systems, scaffolding, ladders, and heavy equipment

Key requirements

Minimum five years of experience in construction, carpentry, plumbing, painting, or HVAC
Demonstrated experience, proficiency, and/or license in one or more trade areas
Working knowledge of hand tools, power equipment, pumps, scaffolding, ladders, trucks, and forklifts
Effective reading, writing, comprehension, and communication skills
Previous healthcare experience preferred
Basic computer skills preferred
Ability to interact with patients, customers, and colleagues with strong service and teamwork orientation
Excellent listening, verbal communication, tact, and diplomacy
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and solve problems under time constraints
Bilingual in Spanish a plus
