In this Executive Director role, you will lead end-to-end underwriting, structuring, and portfolio management of sponsor-driven infrastructure and energy transactions. You will act as the credit owner across deal lifecycles, translating business drivers into robust credit outcomes. You will collaborate with Coverage and Risk to shape executable deal structures and narratives for senior approvers and the 2nd Line of Defense. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on technical excellence, risk management, and developing junior team members. You will contribute to Santander’s customer-centric transformation by delivering high-quality, risk-aware transactions at scale.

Responsibilities
- Lead underwriting, structuring, and approval of new transactions and amendments
- Develop clear, judgment-driven credit recommendations highlighting risks and mitigants
- Own analytical integrity throughout the deal lifecycle and coordinate with Coverage
- Validate and adjust financial models, including base case, downside, and sensitivities
- Monitor post-close credit risk and communicate portfolio trends to senior management
- Mentor juniors in modeling and analytical approaches
- Drive timely execution and maintain high standards of delivery
- Collaborate with risk, coverage, and product teams to shape credit narratives
Key requirements
- 9–12 years of experience in credit underwriting, structuring, financial analysis, and portfolio management
- Experience with sponsor-driven transactions and complex corporate credit structures
- Exposure to infrastructure and/or energy-related credits preferred
- Prior experience as a primary credit owner for approvals
- Strong understanding of corporate credit fundamentals and risk frameworks
- Hands-on financial modeling capability and ability to manage complex models
- Ability to translate analysis into clear credit narratives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial modeling tools
- Excellent communication and partnership with Coverage and Risk
