In this role you lead and supervise the engineering activities for planning, design, and delivery of major transit capital projects. You will shape engineering standards and guidelines across multiple transit modes, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and high-quality design. You collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and external partners to advance BRT, LRT, commuter rail, and related facilities. This is a hands-on leadership position with impact on long-range capital planning and project delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead development and periodic update of transit engineering design criteria and technical requirements for BRT, LRT, and related facilities
Oversee the engineering unit for transit capital project development from planning to final design coordination
Supervise design reviews, field inspections, and construction coordination for capital improvements
Ensure design consistency and quality across projects and modes by applying established criteria
Coordinate with internal departments, agencies, railroads, utilities, MPOs, and stakeholders on project development
Lead long-range capital planning tasks, prepare reports, and present findings to management and boards
Maintain engineering records, standards, and resources; guide use of CAD, modeling tools, and design software
Support NEPA/PD&E studies and coordination with regulatory agencies
Oversee right-of-way concepts, acquisition requirements, and construction plans
Sign and seal engineering documents as required by state law
Manage workflows, performance evaluations, and staff development

Key requirements

Bachelor in Civil Engineering
six (6) years progressively responsible professional engineering experience related to transit or transportation
two (2) years supervisory experience
Professional Engineer License in Florida for duration of assignment
