Responsibilities

Own delivery of work-streams in partnership with the Head of Engineering, ensuring architectural choices support strategy and timelines
Contribute code directly while leading architecture design and cross-functional communication
Mentor engineers through design and code reviews to develop capabilities across junior and mid-level staff
Provide technical leadership on system design, scalability, resilience, and performance
Maintain engineering standards, coding guidelines, and collaborate with QA to embed automation
Manage technical debt, drive refactoring, and ensure long-term maintainability
Collaborate with product, design, and QA to define scope and plan delivery transparently
Identify technical risks and mitigations early to protect delivery schedules

Key requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience
5+ years in a technical leadership role guiding teams and delivering complex projects
Expertise in architecting high-concurrency, low-latency trading systems at scale
Advanced Rust, with working knowledge of Node.js/JavaScript/TypeScript and Python advantageous
Experience with data-intensive architectures and real-time data pipelines
Proven track record deploying and operating AWS environments for ultra-low-latency workloads
Hands-on experience with containerisation and Kubernetes in production
Familiarity with GitOps for automated infrastructure provisioning and deployments
Strong software engineering practices: Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and DevSecOps awareness
Leadership in engineering teams and strong collaboration with product, architecture, quant research, and operations
Domain knowledge of finance and crypto trading; fintech experience desired
Based in UK or Europe; remote and flexible options available
