As Engineering Director for Acquisition & Retention, you will steer large-scale software capabilities that accelerate customer growth and deepen engagement. You will lead the teams powering acquisition, retention, loyalty, pricing, and customer experiences, while improving engineering foundations and cross-team execution. You’ll balance immediate delivery with long-term sustainability and promote AI-enabled delivery models. Responsibilities

Define and lead the engineering strategy for Acquisition & Retention aligned with business priorities
Drive simplification, scalability, and reliability across loyalty, pricing, communications, and data systems
Improve engineering maturity across planning, execution, architecture, quality, and incident management
Leverage AI and automation to boost productivity and quality
Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical sustainability
Develop a forward-looking engineering strategy incorporating emerging tech and AI-enabled delivery
Ensure architectural integrity and scalability across systems
Implement KPIs for productivity, cycle time, MTTR, deployment frequency, and quality
Own OPEX/CAPEX planning and budget alignment with strategic priorities
Establish security, privacy, and compliance standards
Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, and Business teams to deliver impactful experiences
Lead talent management, hiring, and leadership development
Foster a culture of innovation, transparency, ownership, and continuous improvement
Drive end-to-end engineering execution aligned to business outcomes
Promote AI-powered SDLC enhancements, automated documentation, and quality gates
Ensure system reliability and observability with AI-assisted monitoring
Mentor engineering leaders and architects to build high-performing teams
Encourage cross-location and cross-domain collaboration

Key requirements

Extensive experience defining and delivering technical strategy across AdTech, MarTech, Loyalty, Pricing, and Customer Data ecosystems
Proven ability to raise engineering maturity in growing, complex organizations with clear ownership models
Strong product and business partnership alongside technical leadership
Effective communication, judgment, and decision-making under ambiguity
Ability to lead across organizational boundaries and manage dependencies
Strong architectural judgment for scalable, reliable, evolvable systems
Experience with AI and automation technologies that boost productivity (e.g., generative AI tooling, automated QA, AIOps)
15+ years of software engineering experience and 7+ years managing large engineering organizations with managers and architects
