In this role, you drive mechanical development for VCT/Timing Drive applications, taking ideas from concept to production. You will collaborate with design, suppliers, and validation teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions that meet performance and durability targets. You’ll lead design reviews, DFMEA/DVP&R activities, and support prototype evaluations, with a focus on quality, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction. This is a hands-on position at the intersection of design, testing, and launch processes, offering opportunities to shape product roadmaps and technical outcomes.

Responsibilities

Create or refine product performance targets and specifications
Lead designs to satisfy customer specs and packaging constraints
Evaluate concepts and assess design refinements
Recommend design changes meeting technical requirements
Lead or support DFMEA and DVP&R reviews with customers or validation teams
Analyze prototype parts for functionality, failure modes, and diagnostics on vehicles/engines
Lead or participate in technical meetings with customers and internal teams
Release designs for program phases per PDLP and design guidelines
Identify new concepts to address gaps in current products or roadmap and collaborate with VCT/Chain Drive teams
Collaborate with Plant Product Engineering to improve quality, manufacturing efficiency, or cost reductions

Key requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering; Mechanical preferred
0–2 years' experience in VCT/TD or close-tolerance mechanical/hydraulic devices
Strong understanding of design processes
Proficient in GD&T, tolerance stacks, and mechanical drawing standards
Excellent problem-solving skills (8D, FTA, DOE)
Experience in design, development, and release of new products
Familiarity with statistical data analysis methods
Experience with TS-16949 quality systems
Computer skills in Microsoft Office
Knowledge of simulation/FEA tools and its application
Good verbal and technical writing communication skills
