As an Embedded Software Engineer at Viasat Government SNS, you will develop secure communication software for encrypted networks and inline encryptors. You’ll work in a small, fast-paced team, collaborating with system, test, and hardware engineers to bring new capabilities into service. You’ll design and implement embedded software in Rust and C/C++ on Linux-based environments, focusing on networking, cryptography, and CI/CD workflows. This role offers impact through shaping next-generation encryptors securing government networks, with on-site opportunities in Carlsbad or Marlborough.

Responsibilities

Design and implement embedded software in Rust and C/C++
Work with Linux in embedded environments
Develop and configure TCP/IP and network configurations
Participate in Agile Scrum, plan and track progress
Contribute to CI/CD software development
Interface with system, test, and hardware engineers
Engage with bare metal drivers and embedded processor families
Support programs to develop, test, and certify Next Generation Encryptor encryptors
On-site role in Carlsbad, CA or Marlborough, MA

Key requirements

Bachelor in Computer Science or related field
At least 2 years of Rust experience, producing production code for embedded devices
Design and implementation experience with embedded software in C/C++
At least 1 year of Linux OS experience in embedded contexts
Basic understanding of TCP/IP
Object-oriented software development
Ability to plan, track and report on progress
Good oral and written communication skills
US citizenship and active SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance
Willingness to travel up to 10%
