Experteer Overview

As an Embedded Software Engineer in Viasat Government SNS, you’ll develop secure encryption-focused software for in-line network encryptors and embedded cryptographic devices. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring capabilities from development to service, working within an agile, fast-paced environment. You’ll shape the software stack across embedded systems, Linux, and network protocols to enable trusted communications on demanding platforms. This role offers impact in secure networking for government and defense customers and opportunities to grow with a tight-knit team.

Responsibilities

Design and implement embedded software in C/C++ and Rust
Work in embedded Linux environments and kernel driver development/modifications
Develop TCP/IP and network configurations and support protocols (IPSec, MACsec, TLS)
Participate in Agile Scrum processes and CI/CD workflows
Collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers to transition capabilities into service
Develop standalone embedded applications and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams
Plan, track, and report progress on deliverables

Key requirements

2–3 years of embedded software design and implementation in C/C++
At least 1 year of Linux OS experience in an embedded context
Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development/modifications
Rust experience preferred
Basic TCP/IP and network configuration knowledge
Object-oriented software development experience
Agile Scrum development experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or related field
U.S. citizenship and active SECRET or TOP SECRET clearance
Ability to travel up to 10%
CI/CD software development experience
Good oral and written communication skills
