As Director, R&D Cost Forecasting you will build and lead the external cost forecasting capability for R&D, partnering with R&D and Finance to model costs and track forecast accuracy. You will translate program schedules into cost over time, develop algorithms, and provide insights to inform portfolio decisions. You’ll work closely with program managers and functional partners to maintain monthly cost updates and drive process improvements. This is a high-impact role shaping cost evolution for a global biopharma portfolio in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

Create, document, and maintain cost-forecasting algorithms translating schedules into cost over time
Generate forecasts and validate with program managers before governance reviews
Lead monthly cost updates, tracking, and reporting with program managers and functional partners
Improve cost forecasting processes and related systems
Develop modeling insights to inform portfolio cost decisions

Key requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance or science field
12+ years in the pharmaceutical industry with hands-on knowledge of product development and cost modeling
Knowledge of modeling and forecasting methodologies applied to biopharmaceutical development costing
Proficiency in Planisware and experience with advanced analytical tools/models and decision support platforms (e.g., PowerBI)
Strong analytical skills translating data analyses into insights for funding decisions
Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders
Solution-oriented thinker with strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented and self-motivated
