As Director, Private ABS Origination, you lead sourcing, structuring, and execution of private ABS opportunities across consumer, commercial, and specialty assets. You will guide cross-functional teams, manage senior relationships with issuers and intermediaries, and provide credit leadership for complex transactions. Your independent investment recommendations shape portfolio strategies, risk management, and capital deployment. Responsibilities
- Evaluate private ABS opportunities across sectors and deal structures
- Structure, price, and manage large/complex transactions and present to credit committee
- Perform quantitative and qualitative underwriting analyses
- Monitor portfolios, prepare credit memos, and advise on buy/sell/hold decisions
- Manage investments in various private placement securities within objectives and risk parameters
- Balance asset allocation to optimize performance and risk; assess forecasts and scenarios
- Develop financial models and analyze data to support decisions
- Maintain sponsor, banking, and deal-flow relationships to support origination
- Represent the firm at industry events to boost deal flow and market intelligence
- Collaborate with legal, risk, operations, and compliance for execution and ongoing management
- Maintain deep knowledge of private ABS market dynamics, regulation, and credit trends
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to underwriting standards and frameworks
- Negotiate and refine transaction documentation with counsel to mitigate risk
- Develop cash flow and collateral performance models
Key requirements
- 3+ years of ABS investing experience (minimum)
- 5+ years of ABS investing experience (preferred)
- CFA/MBA (preferred)
- Experience with investment and non-investment grade private placements
- Strong credit analysis, underwriting, and deal execution capabilities
- Ability to manage complex, large-scale transactions and interact with senior stakeholders
- Cross-functional collaboration and relationship management skills
- Knowledge of market dynamics, regulations, and rating methodologies
