As FP&A Lead, you will guide strategic financial planning and analysis across a growing biotechnology organization. You partner with R&D and G&A leaders to align spend with scientific priorities, manage budgets and forecasts, and deliver insightful management reporting. You will shape financial strategy, optimize resource allocation, and support executive decision-making in a rapidly evolving clinical-stage company. This role offers high visibility and the chance to impact pipeline prioritization and capital allocation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with R&D and G&A to advise on daily activities and ad hoc projects, aligning spend with scientific priorities
- Lead budgeting and quarterly forecasting, producing timely management reports focused on milestones and budget variances
- Conduct variance analysis to identify drivers, surface forecast risks and discuss opportunities for go/no-go decisions
- Support month-end close activities including accruals and issue resolution with accounting and business teams
- Prepare financial slides for leadership and board meetings and assist with data gathering for senior reviews
- Maintain program dashboards tracking R&D spend, clinical metrics, and cash burn, and automate reporting for efficiency
- Perform FP&A routines such as master data management, requisition and contract reviews, PO management, and internal/external reporting
- Collaborate on long-range planning and run scenario analyses for pipeline prioritization and capital allocation
- Translate clinical and operational data into clear financial narratives for executive and board discussions
- Validate GL accounts, ensure proper coding of expenses, and confirm project tagging for accurate spend analysis
- Differentiate CapEx vs OpEx handling per capitalization policy and ASC 730 guidance
Key requirements
- 14+ years of experience with a BS or 12+ years with an MS; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience in biotech/pharma with leadership responsibility
- Biotech industry knowledge with understanding of preclinical/clinical development; small molecule expertise desired
- Experience managing multi-entity or cross-border finance operations across currencies and international contracts
- Strong accounting and financial strategy expertise; excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Advanced Excel modeling and proficient PowerPoint capabilities
- Proven ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders
- Independent, detail-oriented, capable of managing complexity and multitasking
