Senior Specialist / Project Manager

In this role you help grow the local audience by curating engaging content and packaging stories data‑driven for the web. You will collaborate with newsroom staff to optimize headlines, visuals, and distribution across the site and social channels, while reporting on a range of local, breaking, and enterprise stories. You will leverage analytics to shape daily and long‑term content decisions and you’ll contribute to cross‑platform promotion of our brands. This position offers a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with meaningful impact on local news consumption.

Responsibilities

Curate and package daily content to drive engagement and repeat visits
Monitor media channels and report breaking/local stories quickly and Exclusively when possible
Write attention‑grabbing headlines to boost audience
Package content to maximize page views and time on site using data and testing
Produce short videos and select compelling photos to tell stories
Evaluate traffic trends to guide daily and long‑term content decisions
Collaborate with newsroom staff and management on enterprise content and cross‑promotion
Promote and distribute news content on social media
Attend local editorial meetings and translate newsroom content for web presentation
Improve headlines and thumbnail images while sharing successes across teams

Key requirements

2 years of experience in digital content and journalism
Clever headline writer who drives clicks
Strong multi‑tasking abilities
Organized, problem solver, quick decision maker
Researching, interviewing and writing original news articles
Knowledge of SEO best practices and AP Style
Team player with interpersonal skills
Ability to learn new technology quickly
Strong communicator
Some schedule flexibility (nights, weekends)
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Strong understanding of Google Analytics; Chartbeat a plus
Proficiency in MS Office; HTML, CSS and Photoshop experience a plus
