As a Data Scientist, Pricing at Opendoor you will shape pricing at scale for millions of homes, influencing valuation, risk, and capital flow. You’ll work at the intersection of economics, ML, experimentation, and product strategy to steer the pricing roadmap and deliver models and analyses with measurable business impact. You’ll partner across product, engineering, and operations to inform executives and drive the marketplace health. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives on ambiguity and data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

Build pricing metrics, dashboards, and frameworks
Run experiments and causal analyses to measure impact and guide decisions
Develop predictive and statistical models to improve pricing accuracy
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to influence roadmap and deployment
Deliver insights and narratives that inform executive strategy

Key requirements

Deep statistical reasoning: hypothesis design, experimental design, causal inference
End-to-end ML ownership: data acquisition, feature engineering, model development, validation, deployment, monitoring
Strong SQL + Python, with production data pipelines and ML tooling (e.g., Spark, Airflow, Ray, SageMaker, Vertex)
Ability to translate complex analyses into clear business recommendations and influence decisions
Experience with ill-defined problems and defining success metrics and tradeoffs
High data-quality standards: validation, bias analysis, evidence-based decisions
Effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences
8+ years of experience in data science or related quantitative roles
