You drive credit risk strategy and portfolio health for government-centric clients in Commercial Banking. In this role, you lead a team of risk professionals, guiding approvals, structuring complex transactions, and maintaining accurate risk ratings. You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate independent credit views and shape policy in a fast-paced environment. This is a chance to influence risk posture across municipal lending while mentoring others and strengthening controls.
Responsibilities
- Lead credit analysis, financial modeling, and structuring of new transactions and portfolio management
- Develop and communicate independent views on credit decisions to stakeholders and senior leadership
- Oversee negotiations and legal documentation for bilateral, syndicated, and institutional loan structures
- Assess risks and mitigants, manage renewals and amendments, and maintain credit reporting metrics
- Ensure accurate, forward-looking risk ratings and proactively manage deteriorating credits
- Serve as subject matter expert on structuring, credit policy, and municipal risk issues
- Mentor and coach team members and contribute to organizational improvement
Key requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Completion of major bank credit training or equivalent experience; strong understanding of bank credit policies
- Minimum 10 years' experience in commercial banking/lending with emphasis in the municipal sector
- Strong credit, accounting, corporate finance, analytical, and financial modeling skills
- Solid knowledge of bond and loan documentation and negotiations of complex credit agreements
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and attention to detail skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and foster teamwork
