In this role you will join Nevada Gold Mines to assess underground ground conditions, design ground support, and monitor excavation performance. You will be part of the Cortez Underground Geotechnical Engineering team, collaborating to uphold safety and QA/QC standards. The work includes collecting and analyzing geotechnical data, supporting training, and contributing to project work and mappings. Responsibilities

Perform visual inspections of underground activities to identify ground hazards and provide recommendations
Maintain ground control standards and QA/QC for ground support (rockbolt pull-testing, shotcrete and backfill testing)
Design ground support using rock mechanics properties as needed
Collect, analyze, and report geotechnical monitoring data and maintain databases
Assist with ground control safety training programs
Support geotechnical projects and occasionally conduct underground mapping and core logging for drill programs
Perform other duties as assigned

Key requirements

B.S. Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering or Geology
Underground geotechnical experience or internships desirable
Familiarization with mining software packages (preferably Deswik)
Team leadership, problem solving, and strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Flexible hours for on-call work; ability to work in teams and independently
