In this Development Lead role, you guide the Balance Wellbeing platform within the Client Growth & Retention ART, driving technical strategy and architecture. You translate business goals into scalable, secure solutions and lead engineering teams to deliver a modern, integrated wellbeing experience. You collaborate with domain architects, product partners, and stakeholders to align with enterprise objectives while leveraging AI, cloud tech, and modern frameworks. You champion platform modernization and contribute to New York Life’s digital transformation, delivering impact at scale.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and architectural guidance to the engineering team
- Translate business goals into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions
- Drive engineering excellence through coding standards, design reviews, and enterprise architecture adherence
- Oversee front-end (React) and backend (AWS) development, including microservices and API integrations
- Lead software design process and document in Confluence with UML diagrams
- Ensure robust ORM/DB design for Oracle and PostgreSQL; optimize performance and accessibility
- Implement CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and resiliency patterns
- Oversee AEM integration with front-end apps and identity platforms
- Manage security, compliance, and cloud standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Champion Agile practices within the ART to improve delivery velocity and predictability
Key requirements
- 10+ years of full-stack engineering experience with modern web technologies
- Deep expertise in ReactJS, JavaScript, and related front-end frameworks
- Hands-on experience with OOP languages (Java, TypeScript, Python)
- Proficiency in software design patterns and principles (GoF, TDD)
- Strong AWS experience for development and deployment
- SQL proficiency with Oracle DB and PostgreSQL
- Hands-on with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and related topics
- Experience with enterprise integration patterns; secure workflows with Ping One DaVinci
- REST/GraphQL API development and event-driven integrations
- Understanding of DevOps tooling, observability, performance engineering, and IaC
- AWS/Adobe AEM certifications are a plus; Java/Oracle certifications are a plus
- Leadership experience in Agile/SAFe environments
