In this COO role at Independence Physician Management, you lead physician operations across multiple markets to drive growth and ensure compliant, efficient practice management. You’ll guide regional directors and market managers on financial and operational performance, risk and quality initiatives, and provider development. You’ll partner with sales, marketing, and recruiting to align growth with regulatory and UHS policies. The position emphasizes strategic planning, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration to scale physician networks. This role offers impact across a fast-growing physician services group within a Fortune 500 healthcare company, with travel requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership for all aspects of physician operations across multiple practices
Monitor and drive volume growth and achieve financial targets for each practice
Prepare MORs and participate in budgeting, planning and financial reviews
Implement quality and regulatory initiatives and ensure compliance with UHSPS policies
Collaborate with sales, marketing, and physician recruiting to support growth and physician placement
Develop and implement physician development plans and employment contracts in line with company standards
Engage with regional directors, market managers, and liaisons to align operations with strategic goals
Support new products/services planning, and address physician practice issues

Key requirements

Five to eight years in physician practice management or healthcare management
Experience managing multiple physician practices across wide geographic areas
Strong financial, revenue cycle, and third-party reimbursement knowledge
Understanding of healthcare administration systems and regulatory compliance
Proven ability to analyze data, generate comprehensive reports, and communicate clearly
Ability to build relationships with medical and administrative staff, patients, and the public
HR management, organizational leadership, and team-building skills
Willingness to travel 20–30%
