In this role, you will support Latham's global compliance programs from the Madrid office, focusing on financial crime, AML, and sanctions. You’ll work within the Office of General Counsel to implement the AML strategy and respond to regulatory inquiries. You will collaborate with internal teams and external regulators to maintain robust compliance across jurisdictions. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement and the chance to shape cross-border compliance initiatives within a leading international law firm.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit firm compliance reports to regulators (e.g., OFSI)
  • Support AML strategic initiatives and related projects
  • Assist with ad hoc compliance programs (e.g., DAC6, criminal corporate offences) and respond to inquiries from clients, vendors, regulators, auditors, and others
  • Review and advise on compliance terms in contracts and service agreements
  • Provide legal analyses and responses to compliance questions from firm lawyers and staff
  • Develop and update protocols, templates, and standard responses for compliance communications

Key requirements

  • Law degree and qualification as a lawyer licensed to practice (preferably in England & Wales)
  • Experience in financial crime compliance
  • Experience managing global compliance projects in a large international law firm
  • Excellent written and verbal English and Spanish communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects and work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
