In this role you will serve as the business and legal partner to the CEO and executive leadership, shaping the organization’s legal strategy and governance. You will lead the legal department, oversee risk management, and coordinate with external counsel to support growth and efficient operations. You will ensure compliance across California and federal healthcare laws, advise the Board and senior leaders, and drive strategic contracts and collaborations. The position offers a high-impact opportunity to influence healthcare delivery and organizational performance.

Responsibilities
- Partner with CEO and senior leaders to develop and execute a comprehensive legal strategy aligned with mission and growth
- Provide strategic counsel on HR, medical practice operations, governance, and external partnerships
- Ensure high-quality, cost-efficient legal services to support corporate growth and operational excellence
- Safeguard regulatory, ethical, and fiduciary responsibilities with strong governance
- Negotiate major contracts with CFO/CEO and executives to advance business objectives
- Identify and mitigate legal/regulatory risks and lead litigation strategy and compliance initiatives
- Advise the Board on governance, compliance, and enterprise risk management
- Oversee legal department budgeting, resource allocation, and external counsel management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing legal team
Key requirements
- 15+ years of legal experience with healthcare law expertise
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; CA Bar admission or eligibility
- Extensive knowledge of California and federal healthcare laws and regulations
- Experience in corporate/transactional law and hospital/physician practice operations
- Proven track record in advising boards and senior executives
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex healthcare-related contracts
- Leadership experience managing a legal department and cross-functional collaboration
