As Chief, you will lead UCSF’s Division of Medical Genetics within Pediatrics, shaping clinical genetics and genomic medicine across campuses. You will oversee clinical programs, education, and scholarly activity, partnering with leadership to grow interdisciplinary genetics initiatives. The role drives high-quality, team-based care for pediatric and adult patients and advances research and training. This position offers substantial institutional support and collaboration across UCSF’s clinical and research ecosystems.

Compensation / Benefits

compensation range $207,734-$272,008
potential incentive pay up to $30,000

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and operational leadership for clinical programs, faculty, education, and scholarly initiatives
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across clinical and research enterprises
Drive growth of genetics and genomic medicine across UCSF
Support high-quality, team-based care for patients with genetic and metabolic conditions
Promote medical education, mentorship, and faculty development
Lead program development and expansion efforts across the division
Collaborate with departmental and health system leadership to align with institutional goals
Oversee recruitment, resource planning, and division governance

Key requirements

MD, MD/PhD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
California medical license by time of hire
Board certified or eligible in Clinical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) or Clinical Biochemical Genetics
Demonstrated leadership and administrative experience
Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines
Experience fostering a culture of respect, access, and belonging in academic medicine
