This role connects internal leadership with external representation to advance the department’s mission. You’ll shape a community-focused, evidence-driven program at a Carnegie R1 institution.

Responsibilities

Oversee departmental operations including faculty, staff, budget, facilities, and teaching schedules
Lead recruitment, mentoring, career development, and promotions of faculty
Manage faculty evaluations and promotion applications
Guide undergraduate and graduate program development and student affairs
Represent the department internally and externally and advocate for its needs
Maintain active scholarly output and support cross-disciplinary collaboration and governance

Key requirements

Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field
Tenure and a demonstrable research record sufficient for tenure at a Carnegie R1 university
Evidence of prior leadership in an academic department at a university
