In this CFO role, you will serve as the CEO’s strategic partner, steward of financial operations, and guardian of regulatory compliance for a mission-driven nonprofit. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning that align with the organization’s goals. You’ll manage finance day-to-day, oversee audits, and present insights to the executive team and board. This position offers impact through disciplined financial leadership and growth-focused governance.
Responsibilities
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
- Negotiate state contracts (including Medicaid), vendor, and insurance agreements
- Manage day-to-day accounting, financial operations, payroll, and benefits
- Oversee annual audits and ensure regulatory compliance
- Prepare timely and accurate financial reporting for the executive team and board
- Manage risk (insurance, procurement, ERISA compliance for 401(k))
- Serve as fiduciary for retirement plans
- Attend board and finance committee meetings and present financial updates
- Process general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end closings
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
Key requirements
- Recent experience working in the non-profit sector
- Ability to handle day-to-day accounting responsibilities
- Contract review and negotiation skills
- Budgeting & Forecasting, Strategic Planning
- Ability to handle regulatory reporting
- Impeccable communication skills - comfortable presenting results to C-Suite and Board
