In this role, you will define and deliver next-generation cellular RF receiver architectures for Apple’s wireless systems. You will work within the RF System Engineering team to shape receiver design for current 5G and future 6G concepts, partnering with hardware, platform, and software teams to ensure peak performance. You will address complex use cases, come with innovative solutions, and apply AI/ML to optimize RF performance and link budgets. This position offers the chance to influence critical wireless technology used by millions of customers and to contribute to Apple’s leadership in mobile connectivity.

Responsibilities

Architect and deliver advanced cellular RF receiver architectures
Collaborate with RF circuit design, platform, and software teams to implement concepts
Develop core technologies enabling high-performance wireless experiences
Analyze RF system performance metrics (NF, non-linearity, phase noise, IQ imbalance) and drive design decisions
Lead lab bring-up, calibration, and debugging of RF hardware
Apply AI/ML to multi-objective optimization of RF lines-up and link budget models
Maintain deep understanding of 3GPP LTE/5G FR1/FR2 standards and anticipate 6G concepts
Provide documentation and communication of complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams

Key requirements

MS in Electrical Engineering or related field
PhD with a research focus in Cellular RF systems is highly valued
Demonstrated system engineering experience with complex Cellular RF systems
Mastery of RF line-up analysis and development of level plans for modern receiver architectures
Deep understanding of RF system performance metrics and their impact on overall performance
Proficiency in Matlab and Python for RF system modeling and simulations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate across global teams
Experience with lab bring-up, system calibration, and RF hardware debugging
In-depth knowledge of 3GPP standards for LTE and 5G NR (FR1, FR2); forward-looking to 6G concepts
