In this role you drive growth for HKS by developing and pursuing new client relationships in targeted markets. You’ll work with office, practice and leadership to plan BD efforts, create capture plans, and position the firm as a trusted advisor. You will lead CRM-enabled pursuit tracking, Go/No Go decisions, and cross-office collaboration to convert opportunities into engagements. This is a visibility-rich, impact-focused role that blends strategy, relationship building, and market intelligence to elevate HKS’s presence.

Responsibilities
- Conduct market analysis to inform BD planning and target client lists
- Collaborate with office, practice and sector leadership to set annual BD plans and targeted clients
- Execute BD plans with project teams and leadership across regions
- Create capture plans for targeted clients and drive execution with teams
- Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients across practices and offices
- Position HKS as thought leader and problem solver to clients and influencers
- Communicate HKS story, capabilities, industry insights and best practices
- Represent HKS at local, regional and national events to connect with potential clients
- Prepare materials for BD introductions and relationship building
- Research and follow up on opportunities and pursuits for individual projects and targets
- Coordinate and track BD pursuits in Salesforce for reporting and pipeline metrics
- Lead Practice/Region BD Huddles
- Ensure RFx and related activity are documented in Salesforce and Go/No Go processes are followed
- Collaborate with pursuit champion and team on RFx responses and interviews
- Coordinate internal and external pursuit debriefs and share learnings
- Participate in client calls with other business developers and leaders as needed
- Support Go/No Go process and accountability in Salesforce
- Collaborate on RFx responses and interview deliverables
- Travel as required
- Base Salary Range applies to specified locations
Key requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales or related subject
- Typically 10+ years of business development experience; industry experience preferred
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
- Knowledge of architecture/interior design field
- Proven sales track record establishing and maintaining partner relationships
- Experience developing lasting client relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Ability to negotiate, influence, manage change and work across teams
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Willingness to travel
