Experteer Overview
In this role you will conduct third-party audits against BRCGS and FSSC 22000 schemes for food-related scopes, ensuring compliance with standards and internal processes. You will prepare audit plans and reports, and clearly communicate findings to clients to support certification. You will participate in witness and calibration activities and uphold impartiality and confidentiality in all assignments. This position offers professional collaboration with a globally recognized certification body and significant travel within the United States.

Responsibilities
- Conduct third-party audits against BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 schemes for food manufacturing, storage/distribution, or packaging
- Ensure audits comply with applicable standards (latest editions), ISO/IEC 17065/17021 where applicable, and TÜV SÜD processes
- Prepare and submit audit plans, audit reports, nonconformity findings, and objective evidence timely
- Communicate audit findings professionally to clients and support understanding of conformity requirements
- Participate in witness audits, calibration activities, and performance evaluations as required by TÜV SÜD or accreditation bodies
- Maintain strict impartiality, independence, and confidentiality in audit assignments
Key requirements
- Qualified and approved as a BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 Auditor or Lead Auditor per scheme owner and accreditation requirements
- Current and in good standing with relevant certification schemes and authorized for applicable scopes (food manufacturing, packaging, storage/distribution)
- Successful completion of required BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 auditor training, including Lead Auditor training where applicable
- Audit log from past three years documenting food safety and quality audits (scope, date, duration, role, certification body, facility type/product category)
- Minimum of five years of full-time experience in food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or food processing/manufacturing
- Education in food science, microbiology, nutrition, or related field
- Additional certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, or other GFSI-recognized programs preferred
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and applicable regulatory frameworks (FDA, USDA, FSMA)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical judgment
- Proof of legal authorization to work as an independent contractor in the United States
