As a BRCGS/FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor, you will conduct third-party audits across food manufacturing, storage and distribution, and packaging. You ensure audits meet scheme requirements, ISO standards, and TÜV SÜD processes. You prepare audit plans, reports, and nonconformities, and communicate findings to clients. You participate in witness audits and calibration activities, upholding impartiality and confidentiality. This role offers collaboration with a globally recognized certification body and meaningful impact on food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

Conduct third-party audits against BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 schemes for relevant scopes
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, ISO/IEC 17065/17021 where applicable, and internal TÜV SÜD processes
Prepare and submit audit plans, reports, nonconformity findings, and objective evidence in a timely manner
Communicate audit findings professionally to clients and support understanding of conformity requirements
Participate in witness audits, calibration activities, and performance evaluations
Maintain impartiality, independence, and confidentiality in all audits

Key requirements

Qualified and approved as a BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 Auditor or Lead Auditor
Current and in good standing with the relevant certification schemes
Completed required BRCGS and/or FSSC 22000 auditor training (Lead Auditor training where applicable)
Audit log from past three years documenting food safety and quality audits
Minimum of five years of full-time experience in food safety, QA, regulatory compliance, or food processing/manufacturing
Education in food science, microbiology, nutrition, or a related field
Additional certifications such as HACCP, PCQI, or other GFSI-recognized programs preferred
Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and regulatory frameworks (FDA, USDA, FSMA)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proof of legal authorization to work as an independent contractor in the United States
