As a News Producer at Univision Arizona, you shape compelling local and national stories for our newscasts. You will lead idea generation, script the broadcast, and oversee content flow across on-air, digital, and social channels. You work closely with reporters and photographers to deliver accurate, ethics-driven coverage for the Latino community in Arizona. This role combines leadership, editorial judgment, and hands-on production to drive engaging, timely news.
Responsibilities
- Generate and assign story ideas; coordinate with reporters and crews
- Oversee on-air look and adherence to UTG and station policies
- Write teases/headlines and assemble graphics; supervise production elements
- Prepare and proofread newscast rundown in iNews for morning broadcasts
- Line-produce and manage timing during the newscast
- Develop original stories and sweeps initiatives; contribute to show development
- Liaise between producers, photographers, and reporters in the field
- Lead news meetings and coordinate content flow across ENG and newsroom operations
- Possess strong news judgment and ethics to guide all coverage
- Adapt to a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ensure content accuracy and quality across broadcast and digital content
Key requirements
- Minimum of 6 months of experience as a News Producer
- Digital content creation experience
- Social media savvy
- Comfortable in a lead capacity
- Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken)
- Strong journalistic ethics and editorial judgment
- Knowledge of local, state, and national current events
- Familiarity with Latino community demographics in Arizona
- Ability to dichotomize and manage content across broadcast and digital platforms
- Proactive, self-starter with team collaboration skills
- Technical familiarity with newsroom systems and equipment
