In this role you lead a computational biology team within Boehringer Ingelheim's Computational Innovation group, focusing on CRM and liver diseases. You will align with the Liver Health team to identify targets and drive discovery using multi-omics, genetics, imaging and clinical data. You translate complex computational results into actionable insights to enable data-driven decision-making and strategic portfolio decisions. This role offers the chance to shape the direction of computational biology in inflammatory and respiratory diseases and to contribute to transformative therapies.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of computational biologists, fostering collaboration, innovation and scientific excellence
Act as primary contact to the global Liver Health team within the CRM therapeutic area and ensure alignment across the portfolio
Provide strategic guidance, mentorship and development opportunities for team members
Spearhead cutting-edge computational biology methods for target and/or biomarker discovery in CRM diseases
Establish and maintain standards for data analysis, ensuring quality, integrity and reproducibility of results
Translate computational concepts and results into actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making

Key requirements

Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
long-term experience in computational sciences applied to drug discovery
strong leadership experience in line management
proven track record in CRM indications (preferred)
demonstrated expertise in computationally driven target identification
excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts
strong interpersonal skills and mentoring experience
