Responsibilities
- Lead the Admissions Department and foster an integrated team
- Execute the business development and marketing plan for admissions
- Oversee quality management for crisis triage, evaluation, intake, and admission
- Schedule evaluations, intakes, and admissions according to census
- Run QA/QI programs for admission-related services
- Provide follow-up and guidance to organizational leadership
- Deliver orientation, in-service, and ongoing education for staff
- Serve as clinical liaison with referral sources
- Improve efficiency and quality of services within the department
- Ensure compliance with new laws and regulations
- Train and supervise staff; plan and supervise duties for patient safety
- Prioritize admissions based on patient need and facility capacity
- Provide clinical guidance on assessment, diagnoses, and interventions
- Foster trust and collaboration among team members
- Ensure EMTALA log completion where applicable
- Precept new admission team employees
- Demonstrate empathetic, professional customer service; address complaints
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a social services field required
- Two or more years’ experience in healthcare admissions preferred
- Master’s degree in social services or RN preferred
- May require state licensure; CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required
- First aid may be required based on state/facility
- Strong leadership and staff development skills
- Knowledge of clinical assessments, diagnoses, and interventions
- Customer-focused and compliant with regulations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shifts
