As Managing Director of Schools, you will oversee a regional portfolio of charter schools, guiding principals and school teams toward high academic and operational performance. You’ll align school strategies with the region’s vision for equity, anti-racism, and student outcomes, while acting as a thought partner to develop leaders and strengthen instructional and cultural practices. You’ll lead data-informed decision making to hit ambitious regional targets and ensure sustainable school success. This role offers the chance to shape outcomes across multiple campuses and advance a mission-driven, collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 3+ School Principals across the region
  • Support principals in implementing school plans and regional benchmarks
  • Provide senior instructional leadership and professional development
  • Coach principals and SLT members toward proficiency on leadership levers
  • Collaborate on PD planning and delivery for Principals and instructional teams
  • Conduct tri-annual performance evaluations of direct reports
  • Develop school instructional teams and successor leaders
  • Foster a cohesive regional team culture and values alignment
  • Oversee long-term school planning and data-driven improvement
  • Collaborate with Chief Schools Officer and other leaders on curriculum, assessment, and improvement plans
  • Partner with operations to support school needs and data systems
  • Lead region-wide operations strategy and data analysis events calendar
  • Serve as a mentor and model for regional leadership development
  • Ensure compliance with laws and district policies
  • Engage in regional talent strategies and staff hiring/evaluation
  • Support Principals in meeting regional metrics and policies
  • Coordinate with regional support teams on initiatives
  • Perform other duties per Chief Schools Officer

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience as a Principal in a charter or public school environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills with team-building and accountability
  • Experience in urban schools or communities preferred
  • Flexible schedule and willingness to travel frequently
  • Criminal background check clearance
