Director Finance - Sharp Rees-Stealy

Summary:

The Director of Finance works directly with the CFO and other senior managers, and is responsible for financial reporting that accurately reflects operating results and provides support for effective decision-making; for strategic and tactical planning, business development, product development, and leadership; implements system-wide goals and objectives; ensures realization of established quality and economic objectives in fulfillment of Sharp Rees-Stealy's ("SRS") mission, values, and philosophy; provides financial support to the Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group ("SRSMG") in the areas of monthly financial statements, payroll processing, accounts payable, and CME distributions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years of demonstrated, progressively responsible financial experience and management experience required.

  • Ten years of progressive responsibility and experience in a professional role for a large health care organization or an HMO accounting or finance department, insurance, preferred.

  • Demonstrated prior relevant working experience with financial management, organizational budgets, and capital planning.

  • Demonstrated prior relevant working experience with business intelligence, accounting, cost accounting, and database software.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal relations, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), negotiation, and analytical skills are required.

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities and handle multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities required.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to share knowledge and concepts with a wide variety of audiences, including physicians, administrative leaders, governance Boards, Sharp HealthCare finance counterparts, financial institutions, outside parties, and regulatory agencies.

  • Board quality written and verbal presentation skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration required; emphasis in Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
    Licensure:

  • CPA preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the CFO of Sharp Rees-Stealy and other senior leaders, the Director of Finance is responsible for executing the strategic and tactical plans of SRS, supporting business development, and providing management leadership to maintain and develop a high-caliber finance team.

  • Implements system-wide goals and objectives; ensures realization of established quality and financial objectives in fulfillment of SRS's mission, values, and philosophy.

  • Directs the system of accounting and financial control; ensures uniform and consistent recording and reporting of financial transactions and operating results. This includes appropriate internal controls, and written P&Ps.

  • In conjunction with the CFO, directs the preparation of the annual operating budget, routine and strategic capital budget, long-range planning, operating and capital forecast, and cost accounting reporting

  • Prepares capital project financial pro formas and analyses, including DCF, NPV, and IRR analyses.

  • Provides the analysis and interpretation of financial results against planned performance and benchmarks; ensures adherence to budget (both operating and capital).

  • Provides financial support to Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in the areas of monthly financial statements, physician compensation, accounts payable, calculation of physician incentives, and CME distribution.

Compensation and Benefits:

The position provides a very competitive compensation, including opportunity to participate in a management bonus incentive program along with a generous benefit package.

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires ability to meet deadlines and supervise an array of professional/staff positions and interface with numerous external groups, i.e., physicians, employees, brokers, and regulatory agencies.

  • Must be able to travel by automobile frequently.

  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly by telephone.
